Polygon, a layer 2 blockchain for Ethereum, has good reason to celebrate its latest numbers checkup.
Recently, data from Polygon Scan shows that on Thursday, October 13, 2022, there were 782,186 active addresses on Polygon’s PoS chain, a new record for the blockchain.
Since Polygon made a public testnet for Zero-Knowledge rollups (zkEVM) available, the everyday activity on the blockchain has significantly grown. The findings of the test net, which was formally released on October 10th, will be used to develop a fresh and cutting-edge method of stake Ethereum.
The community’s developers were requested to test the solution and offer any required comments, and as a result, the network’s daily active addresses increased right away from 409,230 to 494,775.
Since then, Polygon’s PoS chain’s daily active address count has increased dramatically, going from 300K to 782,186 in just five days.
Polygon Crosses 53k dApps on Plaform
Another reason for celebration is the immense adoption of dApps on Polygon’s blockchain.
At the end of September, Polygon was home to over 53,000 decentralized apps (dApps).
That is an increase of more than 60% since June and an almost eightfold increase since the year’s beginning.
The total number of decentralized apps (dApps) launched across the mainnet and testnet indicates a pinnacle of ecosystem activity.
The number of monthly active dApps, a more accurate representation of the ecosystem’s active apps, increased by 29% to 17,800 since the end of the previous quarter. Since the beginning of the year, the growth has quadrupled.
The most accurate indicator of developer engagement on the Polygon PoS chain is the number of monthly active teams, which increased by 27% to over 13,700.
The remaining applications will also launch on Ethereum, with about 66% of them using Polygon exclusively. Even while not all of a team’s dApps are consumer-facing, they can all be found on the chain.
Polygon Going Mainstream
Polygon is arguably the “go-to” blockchain for big corporations looking to launch Web3 products and services.
In the last 12 months, prominent companies including Adobe, NFL, DraftKings, Disney, Starbucks, Mercedes, Meta, and Reddit have chosen Polygon as their blockchain partner.
Earlier in September, the blockchain closed a lucrative partnership with the coffee-house giant Starbucks, in order to create a new ‘Web 3 Experience’.
The wide adoption of Polygon can be due to the fact that the blockchain is one of the most environmentally friendly in the world. On top of that, Polygon is considerably faster (in transactions speed) than Ethereum, while not having as many functionality problems as Solana.
